Updates Et Al

I'm determined to create another comic for y'all later this week. I just have to get through this pay-cycle first. Incidentally, that's the 15th. Tomorrow, I'm blogging at Writer's Evolution about all the words that make me squiggy in romance. Turns out, there were some surprises.

So, I hereby promise to do a comic this week. I have just the incident in mind. Or two. LOL.

Updates:
1. Suki is still sick and still on medication at the Humane Society. After the untimely passing of kitten six, and Bedlam, the others are doing well. They are looking for a different foster family as my nieces didn't take the loss well. I need to think of them, and perhaps in a couple of weeks, we'll foster again.

The HS tells me that Suki's problems and the deaths are not common experiences. We just had a rough start. If the girls are up to it, I'll adopt another momma kitten. However, this time, I'm gonna insist she's a Calico. I want to adopt two kitteny Calicos, so that there will be a Calico Mafia at my house.

2. Unchaste, M/M/M shapeshifter, paranormal, erotic, menage, time travel is out now at Resplendence. Hardest book I ever wrote, but one my editor adores above all my other stuff.

Unchaste Releases today!

It has been a few months since I had a release, but I'm happy to announce that around noon EST today, my new book Unchaste releases from Resplendence!!

EXCERPT:
Amaro looked down at his palm, then at Flynn’s chest. His nose wrinkled and he brushed his fingers over the dusting of dark auburn curls across Flynn’s pecs and down his stomach.
Flynn grabbed his wrist. “Mind your manners, buddy. You’re sexy as hell, but I don’t find the prospect of confinement to be a turn on. That’s what you plan on doing right? Until this indigenous final exam is finished?”
“He has hair everywhere,” Amaro said to Koda out of the side of his mouth.
“He’s blessed with animal form. It’s natural he’d have aspects of his totem as a man,” Koda answered. “Manaba has body hair, too.”
“Not as much.”
Koda didn’t seem to have an answer for his pal.
Flynn sat up. “It’s been real nice chatting with you boys, but how about I leave you to this, uh, discussion, while I find some clothes and my tour guide?”
“Stay,” Koda commanded.
“I’m not your priest,” Flynn said, heading off the argument before he got going again.
Amaro grunted with annoyance. Roughly, he gripped Flynn’s thigh, pulling it until he’d exposed Flynn’s cock. Then reaching for it, Amaro cupped his balls and gently worked them.
Flynn wasn’t amused. He struggled to backward crawl out of reach, but Koda put a hand on his chest. That warning look and the pissed off one he got from Amaro, kept him still.
To Flynn’s embarrassment, his cock swelled.
Amaro gave a cry of triumph. “You are a priest.”
“It proves you gave me a hard on, not that I’m a priest.” Flynn scrambled away. He got to his feet, ready to bolt, or shift. God, he didn’t want to shift. He was still aching from the last time.
“I don’t know hard on.” Amaro rose too.
Koda followed suit.
Flynn motioned to his semi-erect cock. “Hard on.”
“All priests prefer sex with men. That’s why they require the test of chastity,” Koda offered casually.

One of the commenters brought to my attention that she's confused by the above because she's never heard of a challenge involving sex as a plot tool. I'm in total agreement. It's just really hard to get three men, the emotional, the physical, the conflict and the hook into 200 words or less when you have a three male menage and are trying to avoid pronoun confusion. But yes, there's more to the plot than sex. Like sacrifice and such. That's all I'm gonna say.

I've offered copies of the two other releases at Chris' blog also. Those prolly won't appear until after the middle of March, closer to release date. Until then, you should really check out Chris' blog. There's another contest running over there, and she always has good stuff.

Unchaste

Great cover, right? Hubba, Hubba.

I just finished Unchaste. And by just, I mean early this week. I've already done two edits on it, because I seem to have a thing for twisty plots, and it's been sent off to the final proofer, a patient soul who polishes and buffs my work.

This book was supposed to be finished before February 1st, since it comes out exactly a month later. As you all know by the date, that means I ran really, really, REALLY late. I totally didn't anticipate how difficult writing a three-way male romance would be. The pronouns alone are mind boggling. Then there's the potential overuse of names and body parts. And exactly how do you write a menage so that everyone gets a turn has a believable story ending?

I thought writing FU was tough, but at least I had a girl thrown in the mix, and she had a definite HEA with only one of the four guys. Part of the story bible in the *Phases anthology is that there not only be multiple partners, but that they all end up as equal components of the love stories. Not pairing off, but coming together (if you'll pardon the pun).

I have another story to write for *Phases. This one already has me groaning with the Why-the-fuck-did-I-agree-to-this-es. Why, you ask? Because it will have four boys. Yup. I'm a masochist.

Fortunately(?) for me, I have agreed to write a different menage as Katie Blu. Theoretically, this one will be done with much greater ease since there's a she involved and because they don't have to all end up as a happily ever after as long as two of them do. It's sad when I look at that and breathe a sigh of relief, don'tcha think?

After a week of sinus infection--which feels like I opted to press my face against the wall for no good reason that I can find--the pressure is finally letting up and I can think a bit clearer again.

Three books releasing in March. Not bad for a few months work. I think I'll go make some tea and clean my house today. Get the cobwebs out of my living space and my head before I have to bury my nose back into my (new) computer.

*Phases Anthology is a collection of 12 novellas, written by six authors. All stories must have multiple or more happily ever afters, and shape shifters. Books must also contain the phase of the moon for the month during which the book releases. One book is released a month, for the entire year of 2011. Unchaste, playing off the Chaste Moon for March, releases March 1st. Horny, Hard, and Hare-y will play off the Hare's Moon, and releases May 3rd.

Trying for an update, here

Hey folks, I realized it had been a while since I updated anyone. Then I realized that beyond telling people that I'm writing 24/7, there really wasn't much to say. I know. My life is so glamorous and exciting, no?

I've been waking up at six every morning and crashing around one. Considering that I keep looking at my most recent sex scene and envisioning men hooked up like little choo choo trains with weird genitalia shaped hitches... I'm thinking I need to get more sleep.

This book I'm working on is the hardest I've ever written. The sad truth is that this hard work and effort will just end up on a pirate site the day it releases. I'll have worked this hard to be stolen from.

Unchaste is a male/male/male paranormal shifter time travel book. Yes, that's a mouthful in soooo many ways. Heh. Still, it's been fun and kind of refreshing to do something different. What's challenging is making all the men equal parts of the book and ending the book in a way that all three are in a believable happily ever after.

This is only my second menage ever. So menage writers out there, got any secrets for keeping things fresh and simple?

Time Travel

I'm working on a book for Resplendence which is part of an anthology. The guidelines of the antho are that it's erotic, menage, and shape shifter. All fantastic things. My first book for this year-long antho release is March 1st. I'm pretty excited about it and I've been doing a ton of research on a long forgotten tribe of Native Americans form the 11th and 12th centuries.

Given that time frame, I naturally have a time travel book going here. And per the guidelines, three men are hooking up (which always makes me think of a choo-choo train and attached cars).

My central hero, Flynn, is sent back in time. I won't get into the particulars on how, he just is. And here is where I suddenly get stuck. Does he come back and part of the magic of his transportation is that he suddenly speaks their language? Does he learn it at an expedited rate? This is a novella between 20-24k, so I don't have a year to lapse in here.

Also, this is a shifter, and Flynn is a shifter. But I'm now 4k into the story and first oh no, there hasn't been sex yet. The second oh no is, there's been no shifting. Sigh.

I think I have to go back and have Flynn arrive in shifted form. Which will actually work nicely for the direction of my story. But it does mean he can't start chatting right off the bat. As to the sex... me thinks he must arrive as a naked animal. Makes total sense as animals don't wear clothes. THEN when he shifts to human form, he's still nakey.

Now the problem is the language barrier. *grumble*

I HAVE COVER ART.... and it's pretty-ful!

This one is for a male/male menage shifter book, coming out March 1st. It will be the third book of the Phases series being written by six different authors. We'll each release two books next year. March will be my first of that collection, my second one will come out May 3rd.

Basically, we picked the phases of the moon's cycle and it's various names for each, then wrote a story using that particular cycle for that cycle's month. Hope that wasn't confusing. March's moon phase is the "Chaste" moon. There ain't nuthin' chaste about an erotic menage between men. Hence my title, "Unchaste."

These books will begin releasing in January, from Resplendence Publishing!
