Happy Valentine's Day

I tried to find a poem for authors,
but alas, poor Google had no offers.
Instead, I'll try my hand at this.
Take, my friends, this poetic kiss.

To my author friends both far and near,
I wish you peace, love, and small rear.
Down the chocolates, rinse with coffee.
Gargle your cookies with chips of toffee (shut up, it rhymes).

May your today be filled with muse,
and you plotting gifts n'er be lose(d).
May editors simper at your style
and readers transported for awhile.

To my readers just as dear,
I send you fondness with single tear,
that I cannot meet you all at one
but lift a book, settle, just have fun.

And when the day draws to close,
don't sniffle up, don't run your nose!
Tomorrow will dawn bright and clear
(I'll still be abed, but don't you fear).

There's work to be done and stories to tell.
Your authors will type, your hearts will swell.
And when our sweat on brow has dried,
you'll have your story, though we be fried.

It's what we do, and we love it. Yay!
