HACKED!

IF YOU GOT AN EMAIL FROM ME WITH NOTHING MORE THAN A LINK, DO NOT CLICK IT!!

I got hacked yesterday. It's the weirdest/most annoying thing. A former editor of mine, with whom I'm friendly, sent me an email. She never puts a message in the subject line and I hadn't spoken to her in a while. I opened her email, saw the link, and because it was her, I followed the link.

BAD IDEA.

The next thing I know, my inbox has generated a mass of emails to everyone, including Yahoo groups. I'm seeing that other people clicked the link, out of trust for me. And it makes me sick to think they are going through the same issues.

Here's the scary part: I opened the email from my editor in a gmail account (with a different name) I have that opens on Windows Mail to may desktop. The virus was sent out from my AOL account which isn't in my Windows Mail access, and only opens from a browser window. The virus can jump ship!! Beware!

HERE'S THE FIX:
Log out and in as a refresh to your mail account. Go to your password settings and change it. Log out, then log in again. That should fix the problem. So far, it's working for me. Also run a spyware program just to make sure everything else is in order.

My apologies to everyone who was effected. Please know that I never send out blind links. IF I send a link, it always has a message attached and is either personal to a select few, or if to larger groups deals with promotional material.

Once you fix your inbox, do not click on any other blind links. Remember, people will go to the site because they trust you and they will be spammed also, which will reintroduce it to your address book if you click on it.

NO BLIND LINKS!!!

Got it and decided you'd probably been hacked, since I could see it was going to what looked like every email address you had, alphabetically. Hopefully you didn't pick up any malware of spyware!

I did receive an email from you with the link with my email listed along with several other emails beginning with 'p', but it looked like a virus email and so I simply deleted it. :) Sorry you were hacked! So unpleasant.

Hey Honey,

This is why you need a Mac... I clicked and guess what... nothing happened, though I did get a fabulous deal on viagra!!!!

Anyway, sorry you were hacked. That sucks...again, why I love Macs... they don't make viruses for them yet... here's hoping the PC world continues to think they aren't worth their effort.

hugs,

I've used Kaspersky protection for a number of years now, and I recommend this product to all of you.
